Bob White Golf Tournament

On Tuesday, June 18th, seventeen lucky teams experienced an absolutely perfect day to play in the 24th Annual Bob White Charity Golf Tournament sponsored by the Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick.  The “Scramble” event was held at Savannah Lakes Village’s beautiful Monticello Golf Course. Players gathered early to register, buy raffle tickets, and practice before teeing off at 10:00 a.m.

Partly cloudy skies and blowing winds, cooled players who comfortably completed the 18 holes of golf competing for first, second, or third places for lowest net scores in their respective flights (either men or mixed men and women).  Team Mulligan tickets were sold, to could help players win (if players remembered to use them)!

Bill Kumle, Committee Tournament Chairman, gathered all together and explained the rules, then Pastor Greg provided a prayer before players were sent to their holes for the shotgun start.

Adding to the fun were attempts for closest to the pin on beautiful hole #4; pictures were taken of each team that attempted the shot. Other games for men and women were closest to the line and landing closest to the hole. Winners were given gift card prizes.

While all golfers aspire to get a natural hole-in-one, on this day, they could have also won a fantastic prize! Some shots were really close to being a natural hole-in-one, but no player drove away with that great prize, a new golf cart from TSA.

In the early evening, players and their guests arrived at the Ark Building at LCBTL for a delicious catered dinner of pork or chicken.  While waiting to eat, the excitement grew as winners of the golf tournament and hole games were posted. Congratulations!  Even if one did not win the golf game, for those who bought tickets, there were many happy winners of the fantastic raffle gifts. And two very lucky people who won the 50-25-25 cash raffle!

But even those that were not as lucky had a great time socializing.  A good time was had by all!

The Lutheran Church By The Lake who sponsored this tournament, thanks the many people and businesses that sponsored holes, donated, bought raffles, volunteered, or played in the tournament that made it successful. All those who were involved helped the local charities who will benefit from the funds raised.  Thank you!
